Sorry guys, but I too have been pretty busy lately, but I thought for sure someone would start the monthly thread in my absence.
Still no progress on the water well, except for the misfortune of breaking the drill stem and losing the bit at 110' when running the reamer down on the final pass. Thinking about developing the well there and seeing what comes out. Might have to set up a mini treatment plant until I can drill another hole.
With the temps approaching the century mark I'm not pushing myself too hard on this. Hoping it'll cool off some and I'll have better luck.
Just going higher this week! The summer heat is one of the drawbacks to working at the park, there's nowhere to get away from it. About ready to move our table and chairs out of the shop to under the shade tree, it feels at least 10° cooler there. The only relief I usually get is either working in one of the cabins or going to town for parts.
Yeah. Same here. I work on the concrete, but there's a 3/8" steel deck plate under the engine. It routinely gets to 140+ when working on it. Although our break room has A/C, so I do get out of it a few times a day.

If I'm working out in the heat I prefer to not even get into the A/C, it just makes it that much hotter when I get back out. Our maintenance area has no A/C, usually the only time get indoors is when I have to work inside one of the cabins.
I got some good spares today at the salvage yard.
Finally got a start on the wiring for my Super Duty power mirrors. There was 1 there that had the passenger door harness on it so I snagged that while my buddy pulled the alternator off it. The driver side door was gone already and they cut the harness at the frame. I know that is quicker, but I really hate ruining a harness like that, I always seem to need that little extra bit of wire when I go to re-install. I got the whole passenger side door harness all the way through the door and left the boot intact, then all the way down to the floor. All I really wanted was the power mirror harness, but you never know when the rest of that will come in handy. I also got the lock actuator since neither of mine work.
I also got a spare alternator, Degas bottle, and CCRM for my Escort and some other miscellaneous hardware for it.
In total we got 3 alternators; about a 2.5 gallon bucket of wiring, switches, fuses, relays, etc.; a scissor jack and tool set; and I'm not sure what other random stuff my buddy got from some older trucks; all for under $100. I am always amazed how cheap we get out of there. I usually even forget to ask for my Veteran's discount.

Bud's is a scrapyard. When scrap prices went up a few years back they started getting a whole lot of vehicles. Many were just too good to crush so they started stashing them. They got a bunch and decided to open a salvage yard nearby. Best prices I have ever seen at a salvage yard. But they don't go out of their way to get them so they don't have a huge variety.
Transmissions are $80/$20 core + $15 if you want the torque converter.
Motors are $250/$50 core.
Alternators are $15/$5 core.
There was a white dually SD last year that was pretty much stripped down to nothing within a week. They don't get many SDs that I have seen. There is a red '03 6.0L there right now that still had the engine in it when I was there. Turbo was gone though. Rear end, most of the dash was gone and the driver side doors. It was a nice looking truck, not wrecked. I am guessing it had engine problems and whoever had it didn't want to pay to have it fixed.
Hi I decided I better check in It's been to long.I got big red tore down for a waterpump and figured I might as well do the whole cooling system thing ,flush new coolant , T-stat & housing , hoses , rebuild the oil cooler ,and while I'm there pull the ebv and line and clean them out I'm getting a non changing reading on torque plus.
