Bought my truck in may of 15, 4x4 worked great. Left for a week out of state in January to go to Florida, came back, and there's a loud clunk when I switch into 4x4 hi. It's not switching into 4hi, and the dash lights up like it's there, but it's not. Any ideas? The IWE system is brand new, as they repaired it when I bought it.

 

I assume 4 x 4 LO works and when you put it in 2 wheel drive you hear no grinding ? If so, and you IWE is new, then you might assume its OK... Pull the shift motor off the transfer case and set on a bucket with wires attached. Setting in driveway, shift using the **** and see what the motor is doing. Should rotate full stroke... you can try to turn the input rod manually inside the transfer case and see that it moves free.

 

Yeah, when I put it in 4hi and drive, it clunks, but the light comes on. I can put it into 4lo and hear it switch, but I don't dare try anything. The 4hi doesn't work however, it just clunks instead. Almost like the motor is shot. I'm out of town now, but I've already ordered a new motor since it's cheaper than rebuilding the case itself. I'll let you know how your trick turns out.
