Tank switch/injector/ignition? problem

1991 F150 4.9L inline 6cyl. dies immediately on startup. It will fire then dies.
It won't run with starting fluid spray into the intake.
Has dual tanks and an electric tank switch. Acts weird: when you flip the switch when cranking it will fire up and then die. Other setting on the tank switch nothing...no fire.
Multiple problems maybe? Have Chilton's for it but not much help.

Does it continue to run if you feather the gas?
