Use truck to fill up gas can?

Is there a way I can hook up a hose to the fuel system to fill up a gas can? I know there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail; is there a way I could use it?

If you're wondering why, I've got a generator on the front of my truck, and I'd like to use the several gallons of fuel I don't use to fill it up rather than go to the gas station every few days.

Sure you can by using the schrader valve on the fuel rail, just ground pin #6 of the self-test plug and turn on the key.
Then the selected fuel pump will run as long as the key is on.
Make sure the engine is cold before doing this.
You can use the hose off a bicycle hand tire pump.

Keep in mind that most rubber doesn't take kindly to gasoline. You'll probably soften the rubber of a bicycle tire pump hose using it to transfer gas. That may or may not eventually lead to problems.

If it was me, I'd go to a store that sells pneumatic fittings (Northern Tool and Equipment is where I go in my area) and get a tire chuck with pipe thread fittings and a barbed fitting to screw into the pipe threads. Then get some actual fuel line to attach to the barb with a hose clamp.

I've got a tire inflator that screws onto the valve stem that I might use. That way I don't have to worry about it coming off mid use. I might put a shut off valve on it too, or wire a switch between pin 6 and ground.

I could get really fancy and figure out a float switch, and run hard line to it. Probably just kill my battery though.
