ABS light, check engine and problems

So I have finally purchased my 2008 e350 super duty diesel. The issue I have been having is after driving a while my abs light will come off and on Intermittenting. The spedometer will stay at 0 MPH after I stop then jump up to 5 MPH then brake hard then jump up again then down the resume speed again. I had someone use a code scanner and they said it was the rear abs sensor. Is it hard to replace the rear abs sensors? They was telling me it had to be programmed and both had a be changed at the same time. Do I need to worry about the speed sensor also? I'm very mechanical incline and don't mind getting up under a vehicle. Any help is appreciated....Thanks!

I'd think it would be similar to this

Also I've never heard of reprogramming an ABS sensor, just TPM sensors.

Autozone will scan codes for free. I assume they will clear them if needed too.

I bought a cheap scanner on ebay and it's worth EVERY penny. It was around 20 bucks
Cheap Auto Car Code Reader Scanner U480 OBD2 OBDII Car Truck Auto Diagnostic | eBay
They even have bluetooth now that connects to your cell phone or laptop for under 5 bucks
ELM327 V2 1 OBD II Bluetooth Diagnostic Car Auto Interface Scanner Mini OL | eBay

You don't need a fancy scanner. You just need to be sure it's OBD II

I've been getting code of c1237 with my abs light being on and I was told it was the rear right sensor by a mechanic(wasnt Ford). The problem is I don't have a rear ABS sensors. I have a 2008 ford e350 super duty diesel 6.0 without traction control or cruise control. I've check and don't see any rear abs sensors at all. I'm not really sure what else to do. I've check brake fluid, fuses even the brake lights and I'm at the end of the road before I head to Ford. Any help or suggestions would be wonderful...thanks!

There is a sensor in the rear axle, look toward the center, it goes to a toothed cog mounted on the ring gear.

Maples01 is correct. My 2007 has the setup he described.

"Signal missing" is the description of your code. Could be:

-Faulty Rear ABS Sensor
- Rear ABS Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Rear ABS Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Wheel Speed Sensor
- Wheel bearing

So I did some more research found out several things. There is no rear abs sensors on the rear at all. Found out the guy told me the wrong code all together. I had two other mechanics check and there is no other lines for ABS sensors on the wheel and there is nothing at all on the rear axle. The spot where the ABS sensor is suppose to be on the rear differential is blank with no wires going there. The codes Ive been getting is p0706, p0707 and sometimes c1237. It sounds like either faulty wiring or the transmission range sensor or am I wrong?

I had a friend who's ECM had gotten wet, I hope you can figure that one out, only thing I can think of in chasing ghosts is to find a mechanic with knowledge, I had to go there, as luck would have it, mine was a crack in the filter to throttle body tube, I was replacing sensors one at a time.
