AC problems

Good Morning,

I have an 04 Ex, Limited, dual air, 158k. Recently the air has started blowing a little warm while sitting still but under way it is nice and cold. I have checked my AC low pressure with a cheap can gauge, all I had available at the time, it registered 65 psi at idle, outside temp was around 97.

I have thought about tearing the system down, replacing oriface tube, replacing o-rings, cleaning out the entire system, replacing coolant and seeing if that was any better. I have also considered installing a couple of electric fans in front of the condinser with a relay which would turn them on anytime the compressor is running. I saw this setup on an Ex in Florida, owner said it worked really well for him.

Anybody else have any suggestions or recommendations.

Thank you,
Jeff

Fan seems to be working fine. At idle it sometimes goes up to 850rpm with water/oil around 195/205 respectively. Sometimes I see it as high as 1200 at idle but AC is still warm at idle. Fan speed comes from a ScanGuage II.

You really need a full manifold gauge set to accurately diagnose A/C performance issues. Otherwise, it's like trying to perform a visual operation that requires depth perception with only one eye. It doesn't work.

Or, you can simply guess.....

Agreed. My Ex puts out 50psi on the low side and 250psi on the high side with a mostly worn out compressor that makes pretty good noise, if that is any help. You can get the gauges anywhere that sells car parts usually and its easy to take a reading. My A/C is marginal in the Arizona heat when idling and mostly OK going down the road.

65 is too high for that temperature. However you also need to know what the high side pressure is. If they're both too high you're overcharged or under-cooled at the condenser.

Otherwise with the suction side not dropping like it should I'd expect a slipping clutch or worn out compressor.

Really just SWAGs here though without having the full picture.
