washing your truck

i am wondering how often do you guyes wash your truck and how long it takes you, and what stuff do you use to clean it with.

me i wash my truck at least once a week, then evey other time its
rainx wax then next week trutle wax's scratch repair stuff (dosent work real well but brings out the color more) and for the tires its black magic tire dressing, it usely takes me hour to 45min to get the body washed and it takes 1 or 2 hours to do the interor. thats my $.02 what yours?

rarely, the last time i washed it was in june for my senior pictures, and before that was in march to get the road salt off from the snow. i prefer to drive around with the mud and dust on it to show its been somewhere and done somethin. when i do wash it, i just take my whips off and drive it through the automatic car wash and then take a dust rag to the inside.

washing your truck

Depends. This year I'm not using the truck as much, therefor it doesn't get too dirty. I usually wash it a few times in the summer and a couple times in the winter if the temp holds above freezing for a few days, just to get the street sand off. Wax once a year, which I have yet to do when the weather cools off. I take it to one of those drive-in-do-it-yourself carwashes. I can't stand automatic washes. They don't do a good enough job. The interior gets cleaned every now and then. The guys that do my oil changes vaccuum him out, so that helps.

Wink washing your truck

I wash my truck every week, I drive it for work & pleasure so it has to look respectable. That's also why a 1984 with original paint has no rust and although not showroom fresh still gets compliments at the local Ford Dealer.

Murphy's? I always use it on my Antiques and Hardwoods. Never heard of using it on a truck unless you count the oak bed.

One day, I wanted to wash my sparkling red, black, & chrome '67 Plymourh Belvedere VIP. All I could find for soap was a bottle of Murphy's. It turnned out by working so well I still use it. It's not really sudzy, but I like the results. And it works graet on woodwork too.

washing your truck

When I go, I take about $10 (15mins).

If the truck isn't that dirty, just dusty, I just use the high pressure rinse, and then spot free rinse. (not as expensive)

On the other hand, I'll take the high pressure soap, and spray it all on, more time on the dirt/bug prone areas. And then using a brush, I brought from home, or the hand mit thingy, I'll do a scrub.

Don't use the brush there at the car wash, if the person before you used it, and was dumb, it could have dirt, or other bad crap in there, and you don't want that on your truck. And from own personal experience, It left swirl marks on my first truck, and hated it!!

Then I'll use the high pressure rinse, and then the spot free. Making sure that I hit the big deflector well so it will hopefully rinse all the "hard" water underneath it out so I don't get streaks while air drying it. (going down freeway) I also try to get the roll up windows, by pulling a little on the seal, and getting some spot free there, so if I were to roll window down, it wont streak as bad., around mirrors, door seals, etc...

Once I get home, I take a terry towel, and wet it with water and ring it out, and go over anywhere I see spots, or water beads. (ie. above rear window&window its self, tailgate, or your prone spots.) I go around it about 3 times making sure I got every thing.

Then its time to the windows. I buy the windex at Home Depot, its a little stronger than the store bought one. Get those well, and then its to the door seal areas. Open all the doors and wipe around all the doors, and everywhere the seals hit the frame from the door.

Finally I'm done. It takes me about an hour. But I like the out come.

And yesterday I waxed it, took about an hour. I masked off all the plastic, and rubber seals. then buffed with a towel. Smooth!!!

I use liquid glass wax. I love it.

I usualy wash my truck every week. It takes me about twenty minutes. I just use the cheap Blue Coral car wash stuff from Wal-Mart. I wax it at least twice a year and I use Nu-Finish. It works wonders, lasts a long time and it is so easy to put on.

I was both our vehicles twice a week or so. Usually with the Meguiar's car wash and then every other wash hit both vehicles with wax. When I'm stripping the wax off, I use about a cap full of dish washing soap. Interiors always get treated with the vinyl restorer and windshields and side windows get Rain X once per month. On the tires, Black Magic dressing sponged in for two coats. I've found the Spray Nine (the industrial cleaner) takes away brake dust effortlessly and DOES NOT damage the wheels (I have the high polished chrome wanna be saw blade wheels).

This Sunday I bought orbital buffer and tested it on the pickup. I liked the results and my arm doesn't feel like it's going to come off! I want to get more skilled with it before I use it on the little lady's car.

My truck doesn't get washed unless my better half says she refuses to ride in that filthy thing. But that will all change when she gets all of her body work done (my truck, not my girlfriend), and a fresh coat of paint. My moms explorer gets washed once a month at the drive in do it yourself place. I always rinse the brush out with the high pressure rinse before I use it. I have to wax the explorer once a year, too.

This summer has been so dry here in Kansas, other than an little dust, there really hasn't been much reason to wash the truck. As scarce as water has been, I feel guilty using it for non-essential things.

When I do wash it, I put a little dish soap in a bucket and use one of those "mits" to wash it down, then I towel dry all the glass and chrome. After all that work, ussually 45 minutes to 1 hour by the time I'm done drying, I go inside and wait for the unexpected rain shower to ruin my car wash!!!
