YES, there are Good Ones.. but getting harder to find.
I bought a service plan with my truck but I can promise you it will be for 911 only. I'm waiting for them to start bugging me to bring it in. I may have to put it in the witness protection program.

There was a time when I would have been concerned about it, but I've read enough over the years to know that the difference between a 5w20 and 5w30 is quite small. I would have happily run the 5w20 they filled it with until the next oil change interval, especially since that engine was spec'd for 5w20 from '11-'15.

Good to see they made it right, but your engine wouldn't have cared either way.

What or how much has the viscosity requirement really changed over the years, and why? Are the lighter weight viscosity trends only for the supposed fuel mileage improvements? 10w-30 was the "standard" or a standard for multi-viscosity oils for a long time.

Cranks and ornery types seemed to cling to straight weight 30 or 40 weight for summertime. Others even today just buy 15w-40 Delvac or Rotella by the gallon jugs and run it year round in everything from weedwackers to trucks and tractors. They can't be hassled with 5 or 7 different boutique blends on the shelf.

There are an awful lot of people who believe that, but these trucks are all heavy enough to not be covered under CAFE. I haven't found any shred of evidence suggesting the switch to 5w20 in the mid-'90s had anything to do with government regulations. I welcome anyone to prove me wrong though; just because I haven't found it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The 6.2 was using 5w20 from '11-'15 and there have not been any issues. As far as I know there have been no internal changes to the 6.2 since it's introduction so I think you'll be fine. If you're really worried you could always drop the oil and put the 5w30 in.

Tighter tolerances in bearings and piston/bore clearance? Engines generally last a lot longer today than the "good old days", around 100k an engine was ready for overhaul.

Glad they fixed it, but techs getting into cars greasy is one of the reasons I won't take a vehicle to a shop unless necessary. You'd think they would at least wash their hands before rubbing them all over the interior.
