Sound from front suspension - diagnosis?

I'm having a squeak/rattle type sound coming from my front drivers side wheel (more rattle). It only happens when I go over a quick bump and happens going straight and while turning.

2012 f250. 87k miles. 4x4. I have a two inch block level (southern truck) up front.. Any ideas?

Check your shock. Both of the bolts and take it off and see if it is good. Also check the screws in and around wheel well. Start simple.

Thanks, good call. Just wanted to see if there were any common issues.

After some more driving, the sound happens more when I hit a small bump and there isn't a lot of suspension travel. When I hit a larger bump and it gets some more flex, it really isn't there. Also, it will produce the sound equally when the bump is only on the right wheel.

Thanks so far. The squeak is somewhat gone and now it's a clear, distinct rattle. I need to check the bolts on the level and all of the shock mounts still.

If it is the original shocks at 87k miles, my guess is worn out lower shock bushing. It happened on my 2006 prior to 70k miles.

Front u-joints are just loose enough and that's where the sound is coming from. Shop said a couple hours of labor and parts. Thanks for all the advice

What would cause the u-joints to go bad so early? A lot of 4x4 use? Lack of maintenance?

No idea why the U-joints would be bad at 87k miles. Maybe just a bad batch from the manufacturer. At least you know what it is.

Update.
Hub and bearings are shot.
Axle shafts are shot.
Locking hubs may be shot.

$3000

Lots of lessons learned on this one.

Tech said it could have started with lack of maintenance/greasing of the u-joints, driving conditions (water), etc.

You drive into a river or a lake sometime ago? LOL

If Ford has not taken it apart. That is something you could do in your driveway. Probably cost you less then a third of that.

Time is money and I unfortunately just didn't have the time.

Just bought it used a month ago..

Parts totaled just under $2200
