Cool 2005 f150 fx4 P0345 and P0349 PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone, I have 2005 f150 fx4 5.4 3v that i blew the timing chains in.. Now i had a mechanic replace the phasers , chains , guides , tentioners.. Had 2 other mechanics check timing all checked out well.. Im still receiving P0345 and P0349.. Now the list of the following is what ive replaced... Both VCT solenoids, All CMP sensors, Throttle body positioning sensor. Both VCT gaskets, cleaning the oil pan replaced everything with that. Replaced all coils and plugs. Checked for Any condensation in connections. Checked all pins in connections. Cleaned throttle body. Replaced alternator also replaced belt.. checked as much of the wiring harness as possible for breaks burns or nicks and came up empty handed.. Tested each CMP and VCT output seems to be correct not sure on exact reading im supposed to be getting.. I also had the PCM flashed as well.. This truck has literally drained me financially and physically for the past year, have no idea on what it could be.. Cannot afford to pay another mechanic to figure this out and cannot afford another motor at this time... The issues that the truck is giving me is Fluctuating rpms in gear, miss-fire, all likes are dimming in the truck with the miss.. Not getting any codes for the miss and of course i have the infamous Triton tap.. If anyone has ANY idea's what so ever or is having this same issue please PM me or add to thread...

First, try unplugging the CPS on that bank and see if it runs smooth. If it does, there is a strong chance that the phaser on that bank is 1 tooth advanced. If both CPS's aren't reading the same cam position simultaneously, it will throw those codes. I know you said you had two mechanics 'check timing', but I bet they didn't do it properly.

My 04 5.4l f150 fx4 has thrown the same p0345 code and only that code. I changed the cps with an Autozone cps. Didn't fix it. When I unplug the drivers side cps the issue goes away. So my phaser on my passenger side of the truck is a tooth advanced? Or would not using an OEM motorcraft sensor not work? Sorry for posting on an old thread I'm still learning. Thank you in advance.

I'm going to post on an old thread also because I'm having the exact same issue as the OP. I did the timing set replacement, VCT lockout, new lash adjusters. It finally started but I'm getting the P0345. It is running rough and unplugging the cam sensor doesn't change anything. I pulled the plugs off the coils on bank 2 one at a time and that entire bank is dead. Not one cylinder is doing anything. I did have an extra sensor that I swapped out but it didn't help either. Did anyone figure this out?

You might have a cam 180 degrees out. How did you set up the timing marks on the cams?

The chains came pre-marked and the dots on the lower gear and the L on the phaser. I thought it was odd that my engine had the same phaser on both cams, but unplugging the position sensor didn't change anything. I'm assuming that when it is unplugged it bases the timing on the other head? or the crank? I think I'll pull the driver's side valve cover tonight and see what I can see.

If you set both sides to the L on the phaser then one side is 180 out. There should be two marks on the phaser. The L is for the left side and the other mark (either a R or a I) is for the right side.

well crap

Ok I know there was no "R" on either phaser. I don't remember if there was an "I" or if I set it to the "L" again. Guess that valve cover is coming off again. At least it's the easier side to do.

The 345 and 349 is the same code for bank 2 driver side.
The "circuit" open or intermittent.
Look at the code description.
Leave the sensor alone.
Of course if the circuit is open, removing the plug won't change anything.
Good luck.

If removing the plug, causing an open circuit won't make the truck run any better, how come the guys that have their cam off by a tooth can unplug their sensor and have the truck run better?

My reply was for A91 original post and his codes.
I referenced his codes specifically.
This why you should not come in on a thread with your issue.
It causes confusion and misunderstanding.
His codes are for an open circuit.
Again, if the circuit is (already open), removing the plug will not make a difference.
Good luck.

Another update

After doing more reading about the codes I've replaced every part that is associated with the codes.. every sensor, alternator just not the starter because I'm not seeing any signs what so ever that there's anything wrong but I still get code.. now as far as the motor being out of time it shouldn't be considering I bought a brand new motor so the factory set the time.. I had 2 mechanics check time and they say it's set right.. so the next step I guess I'm going to have to take it to the shop and have the eltrical system checked out to see if there's a short somewhere in the wire.. I've replaced pigtails on motor and searched to best of my ability to find the break.. now I have read a few posts that the computer sometimes has to be replaced after these codes strike.. I've only had it flashed never replaced it.. the oddest thing is, I remove the code drove 50 miles no code, came home turned the truck off and then back on and BAM there's those lovely codes
