1965 F100 Questions
I am picking up a 1965 F100 next weekend and am wondering if you guys can help me with a few things.
1. I don't believe it has the original engine in it, block code 4K3, head code C8AE-8. From what i have researched that means the block is from a 68 and heads from a 74 right?
2. So, not knowing the block size, what all from the fe series can and cannot interchange? I'm wanting to reseal the engine and warm it over a little but want to know if i have to tear into it and find what one I have just to get say intake gaskets, rear main and such. (also a clutch will be easy since the engine is out of it atm)
Thank you so much I'm sure you guys get tired these same questions but I have been working long days this past month and have had a hard time finding this all on my own.

You are dealing with a 50 year old truck, it's no telling what has been done to it in that time.
Intake manifold and valve covers are the big oil leakers and very well may need pulling & resealing. FEs are pretty much the same on the outside and there is no real concern for size when dealing with those areas.

You can check the stroke without removing the pan with a wooden dowel or rigid wire. Remove a spark plug and measure length of piston travel. 352 and 360 are 3.50 inches. 390 is 3.78 inches and a 428 is 3.98 inches. The originality is long gone with mismatched parts. A '65 would have come with a 352.
