Transmission trouble 2003 4R100

Hey guys,
I am having some trouble with my transmission...
When the transmission is not up to operating temp it will shudder and shake in 3rd and 4th gear. 1st and 2nd are fine. Once the transmission is up to operating temp all gears shift smooth. This could be when the torque converter locks up as well but happens at the same time as third gear shift.
I changed the fluid and filter a few months ago with mercon v and had nothing unusual in the transmission pan.
Any thoughts what is going on?

I'm not to sure what you mean? Spark plugs and ignition coils in the transmission?

No. You have an engine problem that you are misdiagnosing as a transmission problem. Fix the misfire in the engine to make this go away.

Ok, I didn't know this truck had spark plugs and ignition coils. Do you know if there are any write ups on checking those out? I tried googling but nothing turned up.
Thanks

This is a train wreck of a thread. Can we reset please?

Mark, why are you assuming that WillpJones has a gasoline engine? I couldn't find anything in his original post that indicated this, and since he posted in the 99-03 diesel forum, if an engine is to be presumed, I would think it would be a 7.3L. Is there some characteristic in the symptoms that Will described that ONLY happens with gas engines?

WillpJones, why not include the full details of your truck, engine type, mileage, and modifications, so folks can better help you.

Sorry to butt in, but I'd hate for this informative forum to devolve into threads of barbs and sarcasm. Let's keep it positive and productive, and kind.

Yes,i have a 2003 7.3 diesel 350,000km on it. Next time I will include that in the post. I thought posting in that category would be good enough. Sorry... New user here.

Because I was tired and had recently answered another thread where it was a gas engine.

We do need to start over.

My new advice is that you have a problem with one or more fuel injectors. This does not sound like a transmission problem.

Have you run any code tests? I have seen a faulty ICP sensor give "miss like" conditions and appear to be temperature related. Checking for codes may help to close in the problem.

No worries.... I have posted q's in the wrong forum both when I was a newer user and more recently.

I have checked for codes. Nothing comes up, the truck came to me in fairly poor shape. I have changed all injectors, ICP, and pulled the IPR inspected and cleaned it.

What are you using for a code reader?

mueckster is correct.

We need to see if there are codes... Any CEL's? Link to FORScan:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...the-cheap.html

It'll read almost everything you will ever need for your truck for about $15(OBDII to USB connector) and a Windows laptop or a little more for Android. Skip the TorquePro for now and AE for the foreseeable future.

My code reader is one of the Bluetooth ones. Running torque pro app... It seems sweet... I can see tons of info. Even did a buzz test the other day
