1960 F5 - F500 Rear Diff ID help needed
Hi all....this is my first post here and I hope someone can steer me in the right direction. I have a friend with a 1960 F500 and the rear diff is leaking around the pinion yoke. I myself have replace dozens of ring and pinions in light trucks, cars and jeeps...heck.....even did the ring and pinion on my motorcycle. I have not ever delt with a diff like what is in this truck. I was hoping to remove the pinion yoke and then remove the seal plate and replace the pinion seal and button it up. Not so fast......I would first like to get a diagram or possibly disassembly instruction for what I am doing before I go in there. Not sure if the whole 3rd member needs to be removed before I can remove the pinion seal plate or can I just remove the pinion yoke and then the plate to replace the seal. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your time and help!

The missing part to this puzzle is the torque spec on the yoke nut. Much like most other heavy-duty axles, the pinion bearing preload is set with shims, so you can take the yoke off, replace the seal and put it all back together without replacing a crush-collar.
But you need to know what the torque spec is on that nut.
Anyone?
