Fuel Mileage

I am still driving an 06, time for a new truck, those of you that have had experience with the 6.7, has fuel mileage gotten better or worse in the later years?

Worse for me... But others will disagree. Capability and seat of the pants acceleration have improved too.

Truck in the signature: About 12.5mpg in city driving, about 17mpg if I baby it on the highway at 65. Around 10.5 towing 5th wheel. I have averaged 12.8 over the last year with mostly city driving and towing. I just reset trip 2 after the vacation so I can see what it does for the next year.

I had an 01 7.3 Excursion that got 19-20 hwy, 15-16 city. That's exactly what I'm getting in my 16. Without regens my overall mpg would be at least 17 mixed. When I regen I get around 10.

I just got a 2016. I am getting 14 in the city and 11 pulling a 14K fifth wheel.

Would be better if I would get my foot off the gas, but it is too much fun.

I get about 1 mpg better empty highway economy than my old 7.3L, but everything else is about the same. However any time I'm on the highway I'm usually towing a travel trailer or ATV's... or loaded down with both, so empty highway is not often.

All the towing and city driving combined, with very little highway (without a trailer), my lifetime economy since new (over 25K miles so far) is around 15. That's about the same I was getting with the old truck, same routine.

Coming from an '07 F-250 6.0L CCSB 4x4 in which I used to get only 12 mpg in daily city driving, and at best 13 mpg highway, I now get about 12 to 13 mpg in daily city driving and 16 to 17 mpg highway in my '16 F-250 6.7L CCSB. I have a heavy right foot and I don't tow anything.

I have a 2015 and have averaged over 17 in combined driving. When I tow (3000 lbs +/-) I get 12-15 depending on speed.

Think about this. An 8,000 lb truck getting 19 mpg's empty on the hwy, and 11-12 mpg's towing an RV. About 17 mpg average. These are good times. I love this truck.

I am getting about 1 mpg better than the 7.3L, in otherwise completely identical trucks ('99 and '15 F350 2WD DRW). Seems to be true empty and loaded with a large camper.

I get around 11 towing and 16 highway empty. My mixed mileage is app. 12.5. My 6.0 was about the same towing and 20 to 21 empty highway. About 13 to 14 mixed. My 6.0 did get better mpg's however there is absolutely no comparison in power. The 6.7 doesn't even know my 31' 5er is behind it in CC going thru the Sierras. I pretty much have to use the CC on highways or risk a speeding ticket.

I'm getting around 16.5 mixed driving with my 2016 F250 with 20" wheels and 3.55 gears. I got about 11MPG doing the same driving with my 08 6.4, and around 14.5 with my Job 1 2011. The 2016 is the best Truck yet. If I ever make it to 2020 we'll see what Ford has to offer in a SD.

2012 F350 SRW 4X4 w/3.31 rear axle:

Overall lifetime average MPG - 15.7 MPG (hand calculated total miles/total gallons)
Towing heavy (14K lbs) - 9-11 MPG
Highway empty - 17-18 MPG

One thing I've noticed is that this engine seems to be a pig during warm up cycles. If you do a lot of short trips, your mileage will suffer. You'll also go through more regens, which also affects mileage.
