2013 Oil Viscosity

Hi Team,

I just dropped the oil on our "new" 2013 3.5L Explorer and I see on the cap it calls for 5w20 instead of the 5w30 I bought.

Am I going to be fine running M1 5w30 instead?

Thank you,
Scott

Don't fight the system. Just take it back and exchange it. If you insist on using it consider using one quart of it per oil change. These modern engines have very close tolerances.

Actually the EcoBoost engines call for 5W-30 so I assume you have the Normally Aspirated 3.5. About the only difference you might see is a very slight decrease in fuel mileage. I think you'll be fine.
