How much fuel in a ccsb?

I was just wondering what everyone else was seeing fuel wise when filling up there crew cab short box diesel. I realize they have a small tank but everything i read said it is a 26gal tank which should be just over 98l. I have never gotten more than about 80l into it when filling and that time i ran it right down to 40k or so till empty. Usually i am closer to 75l to fill which is under 20gal. My fuel used in my trip is usually pretty close to the same. When i fill i also take my time at the end and fill slow until It is full and not foam. Just wondering if that is what others are seeing or not?

Most I've ever put in mine was 22 gallons.

Whoops, i guess i'm that guy. Should have searched first. Mods delete this if you want. Fuel is a **** off thou. 26gal tank i should be able to squeeze in at least 25 when it is really empty. My ecoboost i could run it down and got over 92l in it once and it was an 11ccsb as well that was a 98l tank. Im guessing ford figured we would be really pissed if they advertised the real capacity

F150's are off too, BUT the advertised fuel space is what you can put in them. A magazine reviewer who would wait to get the fuel all the way to filler neck found out they could squeeze gallons more in by going really really slow and waiting. He figured the 26 was a 30... (IIRC)

I bet it's like my 26 gal. Tundra tank. You could drive a whole lot longer after miles to empty when to zero - like 75 miles or so - before it was really out of fuel. I never did it and it used to irritate the daylights out of me having a full tank and only 180 mile range show on the dash. Driving it to E and only 18 gals. going in.

I always wondered if the DTE was intentionally low when compared to remaining fuel in the tank, due to the possibility of a regen before you are ready to fuel up. You would hate to get down to a few miles DTE, with no fuel stop possible for a bit and hit a regen. Perhaps there's programming in place to prevent it though. I don't know. Just a thought. Many have that same complaint. I have managed to get 36 gallons in my tank though, so mine isn't as far off as some.

I find on my truck the gauge is accurate too. As in, when it says 1/2 full I put in roughly 20 gal to fill it up, 1/4 I put in 30. But you and I have Long beds and the 37.5 gal. tank. I've never seen the fuel light come on and fill up though either.

At least the 2017s coming out have a larger tank for both the short bed and the long bed.

On a diesel you don't want to run dry. they HPFP is lubricated by the fuel.

consider the damage that would be done to the complete fuel system.

I rarely let mine go below half tank... No only is it bad for diesels, it is still bad for gassers too.

I'll typically fill at 1/4, but there are infrequent occasions where it isn't possible or feasible to do so.

I hear you on not running it dry. I typically fill up at 1/4 tank. If the most we can get in thou is 21 gal in a 26 gal tank even if it is almost bone dry according to the gauge there should be plenty of fuel to keep things lubed up I would think.

It does indeed hold 26 gallons. Your DTE is just so far off that while you think you're running it almost dry, you are no where near empty. If you ran it until it stalled (not good but just making a point) you'd indeed be able to put 26 gallons in. My truck reads 0 miles to empty with 4-5 gallons left in the tank. I once ran into a county wide power outage on the way to my campground and all the fuel stations were down from the interstate off ramp to the campground. I was at 0 to empty for about 30 miles by the time I unhooked the RV. Then drove a few miles back into town the next day on 0 to empty to fill up. Still had 2 gallons in there. This is done intentionally to protect us stupid Americans from ourselves. LOL.
