So if I decide to ever build it with a roller cam then I should be able to along with changing the gear on the distributor

Yea. You may need to drill and tap the lifter valley spyder bosses though, if they're not done already. Seen one block where those bosses were only half formed, that would have negated using the stock roller lifter setup.

IF I ever do anything like that I will most likely get better flowing heads anyway, I know a guy that has some gt-40 heads laying around.

Have another question, I finally pulled the distributor out of my engine and the shaft from the gear down is longer than the new aftermarket one I bought. I have tried doing some research and all I can come up with is that the oil pump shaft will just not sit as far up in the distributor shaft as the other. Anyone have something different?

The longer distributor shaft served to lend more strength to the oil pump drive shaft. So you're fine here. Really should though install a new HD drive shaft if you have the engine on a stand.

I wish it was on a stand but it is in the truck, at this point I am just hoping this thing will run. If for some reason it wont then I will break it all down and do it the way I would want to and replace that as well. Thanks for the info, I had just read what you told me in a thread from last year.
