Hey Robert, how's it going there? I didn't pick up on anyone implying it wasn't possible. But maybe I missed something. We haven't even seen pictures yet, though, so it never happened...Lol.

352's installed in 1965/67 F100/350's were only available as 2V's (See ENGINE CODES pic below).

352 VIN engine code D = 1965 only / VIN engine code Y was used 1966/67.

btw: Your truck: F10DL639620

F10 = F100 2WD / D = 352 2V / L = Michigan Truck Assembly Plant / 639620 = 1965, assembled January 1965.

Truck I purchased new in March 1965: F10DR639898

F10 = F100 2WD / D = 352 2V / R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant / 639898 = 1965, assembled January 1965.

This was a Wimbledon White Standard Cab 8' Styleside pickup with 3 speed overdrive, AM radio, deluxe fresh air heater, tool compartment.

That's, of course, not correct. I started the Errata for the MPCs that cover our trucks here. And I barely scratched the surface. But, overall, not too bad for mostly pre-computer days, I think.

4Speeds4Ever has a truck with this VIN

F10DL639610

Same plant and just 10 different.

Don't forget, the series code (last 6 digits of the VIN), apply to ALL series of trucks and Econolines. Add Bronco's beginning in 1966.

If this is the case, how did you recall this truck?

One thing caught my eye here. At least in 1966 the dual sun visors were standard on Custom Cab (and Ranger) as you say, but the padded visors were optional on them. If you didn't order the padded visors, which were color coordinated, then you just got the two regular non-padded gray visors.

Minor detail, but luckily we aren't dealing with anything too major anyway....

In the final liquidation days I had the chance to buy a 1965 Salesmans Book but passed on the opportunity. You know how one kicks oneself at times. Ouch!

Only you might get that last paragraph.

Thanks for asking. Meds are kind of stable, considering. Last cerebral angiogram showed small leakage in a vein. The Neurosurgeon will discuss this with me on the 27th. Other than that, I woke up above ground today, that's a plus.

Were the padded visors a stand-alone option? My present and previous trucks are CC's and came with the flat grey ones. My '66 brochure doesn't list them in the description of the Custom Cab option.

Finally got the truck home. So what do you guys think? I honestly believe it's a factory Ranger, that the door tag was stamped incorrectly.

Underside of truck, inner rear seat bolts with square nuts.

Other side. Underside of truck, inner rear seat bolts with square nuts.

Left front fender emblem.

Right front fender

Roof of barn damaged the hood and roof. Front grill, bumpers, windshield moldings appear to be original.

Red on chrome molding may have been ordered this way, painted at the dealer or after purchase.

Original tailgate. Original rear bumper.

Seats were reupholstered in the 80s by and local shop. Headliner was done as well as visors. Converted from 3 speed column to 4 speed in the floor.

Does have the factory center console.
