2011 F-150 Piece of Junk!
#17
I love my 2011 4x2 Sup Crew
Even after two large tree's fell on it while on vacation in Tennessee, I drove the boy home 256 miles without an issue. Now waiting on insurance to figure out is he's fixable, or a total loss. I'd say the truck actually held together pretty well for what hit it. "Built Ford Tough!
Sorry you've had such a bad time with your truck though. I'm a hard core F150 guy.

I had a 97 chev truck that I replaced the starter in it once. No transmission issues.
92 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme that I changed the fuel pump on it.
Ford truck left me stranded and technicians don't know how to fix the problem..... Yet numerous articles have a solution to the problem.
It wouldn't be as much of an issue if the idiots could do a proper recall....

It isn't just a new sensor. Ford is working on a new software update for the PCM. That is what is taking so long. You would think though with how dangerous this could be that they would get on the ball.

Yes!! I completely agree! There are two issues, one is a new sensor and two is the new software.
They have finally agreed to cover the cost of the part. It is covered under a customer satisfaction program which extends the warranty to 10 years of 240,000 km. Anyone who has this issue the customer satisfaction program is 16N02.
I have had numerous other issues. Shudder on take-off. Ford doesn't know how to fix the problem.
Knocking at idle - Ford calls this normal and just the fuel injectors....
Starter issue I had to fix myself as Ford techs could not replicate the problem.
Calipers that have needed to be replaced.
Rear brake rotor that warped... badly....
Antifreeze leak.
I'm sure there are more if I put some more thought into it.

So, let's keep it polite and no more name calling of the techs or anyone else. This is a G rated site.

The transmission issue is the only real concern here. After 120K in five years you're really going to complain about rotors and calipers? The tranny issue is a legit concern and hopefully Ford will have it fixed soon.

My last truck, a 2001 F150, 4x2, 4.2 V6, at 135K the Transmission literaly blew apart, but I just couldn't hardly get mad about it. Not with those miles and for a little V6, I've really have had that boy way, over loaded, several times.
And we do like the "G" rating's here...

I do wish the Dealerships would treat people better. I have been in to my dealership with my Focus and they treated me poorly,I was so pissed off. I think it was just the lady I was dealing with,I went in a few weeks later for some parts and she was gone. That would and has scared me I had a 82 F150 with a C6 And it went from drive to 1st with out any warning, lucky I was only going 30-35 mph when mine did it.Hope Ford gets a fix for you.My brother has a 08 Silverrodo Its nice but issues with it to.He saids you cannt drop the trans pan with out removing all kinds of stuff .

Let's see what your alternatives are: you could buy a Ram or Chevy and get to be on a first name basis with your mechanics. You could buy a Toyota Tundra and replace the timing belt on your V8 every 60-80k miles, not to mention the body rust, oh and Toyota's have a habit of wearing out front brakes and tires pretty quick. I'm not real familiar with the Nissan Titan but I'm sure it ain't perfect either.
I've owned several from each of the American Three and my Fords have been my best, hands down! Are they perfect? No, nothing ever is. If you're looking for perfection then you're going to be very disappointed in everything you buy! Good luck finding it.

If you're sure about that, then I stand corrected on that issue. I have a friend that is more knowledgeable than I am that claims Toyota's 5.7 V8 is belt driven, and is a PIA to replace. But again, I'm only relying on hearsay. I also must admit a strong personal bias against Toyota's.

Does my vehicle have a timing belt or timing chain?

Not that it much matters, but it looks like Toyota phased out belts in every engine by 2009-2010. The 5.7 never used a belt. It is certainly hard to keep track with different automakers (including Ford on its 4 cylinder engines) using belts on some engines:
