the seatbacks do fold forward. It does give you a flat surface, but it is angled backwards some and you need to take the headrests off to get them down.
I thought I had a pic but do not. I will grab one later.
My CREW has a 40-60 rear bench. Both sides fold down over the seat cushion and make a relatively flat area for kids to sleep, store tools, etc... I assume blupupher has two buckets in the back of his King that require the head rests to be removed.
Had buckets, now have a 60/40 rear from an '03.
If I move my front seats forward, I can fold the rear down with the headrest on, but with my seat in normal position, the rear head rest has to be removed to fold down.
The rear headrests need to be removed for the seat backs to fold down. Maybe if the front seats were all the way forward you wouldn't but for an average height person the head rests need to be removed.
Well, you guys are right. I tilt the seat forward 45 degrees 4-5 times per week to get into the tool box behind the seat on back wall. I really never lower the seat all the way.. I though you were wrong, but I just checked and my head rest hits the back of the seat at about 45 degree........ I never noticed that !!! I have never tried to lower completely, just tilt to get into the tool box !!
