It's all expectations. They are ALL class-leading, so I don't know that it sucks, just that some folks were expecting a lot more. 925 ft-lbs of torque is rather impressive, but less than many were anticipating. And I seriously doubt anyone here would notice a difference between 925 and 1025 ft-lbs.

Why? Its all class leading.
I was thinking about this all last night. Lots of big numbers were thrown around. But why would Ford introduce 'spectacular' numbers if it didn't need to? They are already way ahead in terms of diesel horsepower. They've now exceeded RAM by 25lb-ft to take the torque lead.
This gives them room for the years ahead in this generation of Super Duty. Obviously, the heavier duty hardware will support even more power and torque in the future, so towing can rise even further if necessary. Why would you go 500/1000 now as many speculated when that level of power can eventually be given as the truck ages? Just like the 440/860 rating came in this generation's second to last production year.
I'm overall very pleased. Hopefully there was some focus on improving fuel economy. On the other hand, Ford initially announced the 2017 F-150 3.5L EcoBoost as no HP change and only a modest 30lb-ft torque increase...then a week or two later the horsepower went up by ten and the torque increased 20 more lb-ft.
Still, 65 additional lb-ft is substantial. The other thing to consider is possible transmission limitations.
