obs swapped to second gen?

So I have a built motor in my 2000 f250 and wanted to swap the trans to a manual well on Craigslist I found a truck (98 model yr)with the right trans for the a good price but the body is in much nicer condition than mine so I was wondering if I could just swap the motors?? Iv pulled these motors more than a few times and recently I could probaly have it done in two weekends depending on what needs to be changed in the 98 truck

There was no 1998 model year for the trucks. Get the VIN of the CL truck, and photos. So you want to swap the engine from your 2000 truck into the CL truck?

Unless it was sold in Canada, right?

^^^^ Hmm, no idea; maybe there was a 1998 model year for Canada. Speedometer would be in km/h if so.

As said before, no 98 Powerstrokes. They did make a 98 F-250 but it was a "light 3/4" (less GVW than the >97s) and none of those were diesel.

Putting a diesel in a true 98 F-250 would be quite a feat. Macho deneros and a lot of custom fabrication, but anything is possible.

Putting a SD diesel in a 94-97 Powerstroke would be easier but not 100% bolt in either

I'm pretty sure there is a 98 OBS F250 and it was only the F350 that got completely dropped in 98. So in 97 and 98 they made a LD F250 (basically a 7-lug F150) and a HD F250 (OBS).

there were 98 F350's. they were 97's that were tagged as 98's. at the other job i bought 5 of them at auction. and as Madpogue said, they were sold in canada and had speedometers in kmh not mph

i have also heard of canadian full size 98 F250 diesels, but never saw one.

There were no 98 F250HD/F350's up here either. Buddy of mine actually has a 97 model year(by vin) F350 crew with a 1/98 build date on the door tag.
The only 98 F250 is the 7 lug F150 based truck.

correct they were built in 97. but the title had 98 on them. which as far as motor vehicle is concerned makes it a 98 truck.

No, you read that wrong. It has a 1/98 build date, but the year code in the vin(V), and registration make it a 97.

no, YOU READ IT WRONG. build date was 12/97. TITLE SAID 1998 F-350 .
5 trucks, sequential serial numbers. they were part of a lot of 25 trucks all built the same, and built for a construction company some where in canada.
7.3 diesel, auto trans, 4X4, headache rack, and tommy gate on the back. white trucks with 4 inch yellow stripe down the side.

^^^^^ You've seen his buddy's truck?

On the fleet trucks you bought with 1998 on the title, what was the 10th digit of the VIN? VIN coding trumps any text in the title.
