1977 Highboy spring sag. What is factory height?
I've spent a lot of time researching and came across only one thread that said factory hub to fender measurement for the highboys is supposed to be 27 inches. The same thread also shows several trucks with the Skyjacker 2 inch lift, both guys stating 26 to 27 inches hub to fender.
Does anybody know what the correct factory dimension is supposed to be? My truck measures 24 inches in the front, 23 inches in the rear, and the passenger front rubs on the fender during sharp left turns. I would like to get it 2 to 3 inches higher, but not looking to spend $1200 on the Skyjacker kit, especially after hearing about how much they sag and how fast they sag.
I am currently looking at the springs from General, but would hate to spend over $600 on new springs just to end up at the same height I'm currently sitting.
Any insight?

You could always add a leaf or too to help compensate or visit a local spring shop and have them ached again. I don't know about the skyjacker spring sag...mine are like 5 years old now and still look like they did after they settled in. They're probably not the best riding springs but they work fine.

i have 4" skyjacker springs that are 20+ years old, they haven't sagged at all and ride very smooth. re arching your spring will just result in them sagging over time again. add a leaf will net you 1.5 - 2" but will ride worse than it does now. check the classifieds, craigslist, ebay etc. i picked up 6" skyjacker front springs for 200 bucks a few months ago.

The cheapest route is to have them re-arched. And this can be accomplished with a press, 2 people and patience. As for height, you can measure what you have and how much more you want and just take them to be re-arched somewhere if not into doing it yourself. I've reached springs a few times now. Not that hard to do but is an all day process.
