201X F150, aftermarket tow package?
Hey all, Im Rome. First post here.
I'm in the market for a used 2010-2014 F150 supercrew.
I plan to drive the truck I buy for the next 8+ years, and in the next few yeas I plan to buy a travel trailer, in the 5000 lbs range. I found a nice 2014 that I really liked, but it does t have a tow package of any kind. I didn't even know it was possible to buy a 5liter v8 truck that didn't come standard with a hitch receiver and towing package, but I'm completely new to the world of trucks.
I'm not entirely sure what is included in a tow package from ford, but from reading online I gather it's a hitch, a tranny cooler, something about a radiator, and something with the gearing.
I was hoping I could just add all the oem parts of the tow package if it wasn't installed during initial build, but I keep reading g about a special bumper, and a stronger tongue weight hitch on the oem package than any bolt on aftermarket.
This is all confusing, as I'm new, and I'm not even sure if I'm using g the correct terminology. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Welcome.
You will be far better off finding a truck with the tow package already installed. Finding a truck with the tow package and camper certificate would be a bonus. Go a step further and get an FX4 (or FX2) and 4.10 gears and you will be all set.
Before you commit to anything, take time to peruse the Ford towing guide for F150 SC's for those years. You'll likely find the 5.0 equipped trucks don't have the cargo capacity of the Eco-beast trucks.

Good luck!

The upgraded rear bumper and hitch was for the max tow trucks. I wouldn't worry too much about that.
I'd worry more about the auxiliary transmission cooler, upgraded radiator, 7-way trailer wires and select shift transmission controls that you don't get without the tow package.
You'll spend more on a hitch and wires than it costs to find one with the factory tow package.
A friend of mine made this mistake .... Do yourself a favor and get one with the factory tow package. Dont settle for one that someone just put a hitch on.
