66-77 rollcages?
Group,
In you opinion what is the best roll cage out there? I need a "family" bar. My 77 has a fiberglass body and I want all the protection I can get. I will have a professional tie it to the frame. No good to just bolt a good bar to the glass... I have seen several, The one I like the best if from wildhorses4x4.com but I am in PA and they are in CA so shipping is probably a fortune?? Advice, Comments?
Thanks
Sam

I had a local 4x4 shop build mine. They started with the factory roll bar and added front and rear cages. They also put places to mount shoulder harnesses for all 4 seats.
In hind sight they (and I) wished they'd have made a new main hoop too, because the legs on the two sides of the factory bar were different lengths, so it's not all square.
And one thing that's slightly annoying is that the front support for the soft top doesn't clear the rear cage, so when the top is down the front top support is laying on the back of the cage rather than laying against the top of the tailgate. Not a big deal though.
I forget what it cost (it was over 10 years ago), but it seemed like a good way to go.

Simple cage
I went with a front cage with added extensions to the rear. Hopefully enough for at least a little bit of safety, but mostly for looks...

A local cage builder is your best bet and have them tie it into the frame. Shipping will kill you anyways to have one made then shipped and no guarantees your bronco is as perfect as the one they used as a mock up. Most cage builders that ship will only ship pieces that you gotta weld to finish it.
Funny, I purchased mine from Wild Horses like 25 years ago and back then they used 3" and it's extremely gawdy to today's standards where 1.75" has become standard.
Be prepared to open up the wallet!
