Heater control Valve ?

Heater control Valve ?
I felt the heater core getting hot under the dash so I thought the stock valve may be letting coolant flow through. Order a new valve from Dieselsite and installed as replacement but kept the gray hose. I have auto climate control but have it set at A/C on at 60 with recirc on. I can verify that the valve closes just fine but my heater core in the Ex still gets piping hot. This is not over a long period either; more like 5-10 miles in 95 degree weather.
I see that on the rear of the motor on drivers side is the inlet heater hose to the heater core behind the glove box.
The front of the motor passenger side heater hose leads to the heater core in the rear.
Both loop in to the return line that leads to the water pump which is what the valve is inline with.
As the valve sits unused, it remains open.
Would someone shed some light on why the core is still getting hot coolant? I would think that stopping the return as designed would stop flow from both inlets in their tracks.
*Verified blend doors are in working order.
