Best shocks for towing heavy?

those are two different issues.. the springs on the 6.7s were softened due to complaints about ride quality for the daily driver crowd.. us towers and and workers have to adjust.. airbags, helper springs, etc deal with that .
shocks are different and only dampen the speed of the movement, not the range.
I have the adjustable 9000's and love them.. I tow a 15,000lb fw with my dually AND added airbags to help keep off the overload springs, cause that gives such a harsh ride. and use the 9000'sadjusted high to slow the travel rate.

I just towed almost 3000 miles 3rd-11th, all highway and you could tell immediately when the airbags were not aired up.. banging against the overload springs all the time.. add 25psi, get the springs up off the overloads.. like a limo.. only noticed fw really when the road obstructions inflicted their normal pain..
one 'dip' was so violent a lawn chair in a bag in the bed went up and over the tailgate.. to be run over by a semi behind me..

X3. Bilstein 5100s here too. Regularly tow 17.5-19.5k. They eliminated one of my issues. I only get bouncing on major expansion joints and really bad bumps now. I did try air bags and with my little truck, even they couldn't cure that. The next thing I am going to try is a 2017 F450...

Spoke with two Bilstein reps day before yesterday as which shocks to get. I got the death wobble coming through the mountains of Kentucky week before last and it has me concerned. I called after the guy at Summit Racing told me he had just called them and asked which ones I should get. I quite frankly didn't believe him, so I called them twice myself. Both said that the 4600s would be the best bet for pulling that much weight at stock height, but after Rodney posted about the valving being the same between the two, I'll take the yellow shocks as I believe either of them will work.
I'll report back after I get them on and tow with them a bit. I know it doesn't help you now, but as you might have gathered, Bilstein is the way to go apparently.
