83 Bronco Dash Speaker

83 Bronco Dash Speaker
On my 83 Bronco, after removing the dash I noticed this electrical connection. I have never had a speaker hooked up on the dash before, so I was just curious if there is a special adapter to use for this connection to attach to a speaker. No biggie, just curious. This is of course if this connection is for a speaker which is only a guess. Any response would be appreciated.

Yes, that's for a speaker. I think it's a 6"x8" just like the rears, but am not 100% on that.
Back in the day, the single dash speaker was the standard and the "premium" was having the door and rear speakers.
As for the plug to connect it, it probably disappears down and connects into the old radio wiring harness.
Most stereos that are in them are aftermarket anyway, so if you got a speaker, you could probably just run a regular +/- wire up to it.
I remember looking it over last time I had my dash off, but since I had the 4 speakers in my '81, I didn't delve in too far. Always thought it might be fun to put a small bass speaker in there or something though.
