Dealership folks (like myself) get D plan. It's roughly invoice minus holdback. When we sell a vehicle at any plan with a proper Pin, Ford gives the dealership money to compensate for the below market amount. So while it's not a rebate, it is a price made possible by Ford. That being said, you can typically get X plan in most markets without being X plan, just they won't get the money from Ford for selling at that price.

So, in other words, it's better for the dealership to sell at X plan than invoice due to some additional compensation from Ford?

Monetarily, yes. But there is a down side. The sale does not count towards the dealer's monthly totals when an X-Plan pin is used. It's considered a corporate sale. So, if their numbers are low they might prefer to pass on the Ford spiff for taking the pin and get the sale for the dealership instead.

Interesting, didn't realize that.

It counts as a retail sale when we do X plan. Fleet sales do not count though. No one would ever sell x plan if it didn't count towards sales figures.

The dealerships around here won't let you take the incentives on top of the X plan, so you're just as well off to take the incentives & forget the X plan. SWMBO works for a Ford supplier & gets X plan, I know, I've tried. BTDT.

That is completely against X-plan rules and whatever dealer told you that needs to be reported to Ford corporate and outed here so others will know to avoid them. They can decline to accept an X-plan pin. They CAN NOT accept an x-plan pin and decline to give you the eligible rebates you are entitled to.

Are those rules published anywhere that a guy can get a copy of them?

https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerw...tner_rules.htm

This covers most of the x-plan details.

Frequently asked question #19:

19. Am I eligible for other incentives?

Yes, for most. Partner Recognition participants are eligible for most public incentives. There are some offers that are not compatible with this offer. Your dealer can best determine which incentives you are eligible for.

As usual, the wording is very ambiguous. The dealer determines what incentives you're eligible for. That means NONE.

Incorrect. Almost every rebate imaginable is available. Your dealer lied to you. Period. Ford says check with the dealer so your not calling the 800 #. It's not up to the dealer which rebates are available. It's up to them to convey honestly which ones are compatible with x-plan. Yours did not.

Exactly.

Simply logging in with your company's X-Plan code (not your PIN needed when you purchase), and doing a search of dealer inventory reveals that X-Plan net is X-Plan minus any rebates you're eligible for. Which right now, is fairly healthy on '16 F150's and F250's.

Why would a dealer not give you incentives? It doesn't cost us anything. That's Ford's money to give away. Now if you mean they aren't discounting on top of X plan, well that's accurate. X plan is not a rebate, it's a price. You take X plan price minus eligible rebates. There would be no reason at all for a dealer not to do this. I'll be they just explained it to you poorly. Often times we work with someone and get a price and then they try to be sneaky and pull out "x plan" thinking they will get even more. That's just not how it works.

Frantz, I would bet what the dealer is doing is having the x-plan customer sign a form stating all rebates go to the dealer.

Heck...they may not even be having the customer sign anything...they may just be telling the customer "This isn't compatible with that"... "If we give you X-plan you can't use other rebates...etc" and the customer just believes them. Thanks for posting the link to the X Plan details. At least it gives the customer a little knowledge to at least question the options.
