How to type the degree symbol on computer

I noticed many posts using the * for the degree symbol.
You can hold alt down and type 248 to get the degree symbol (°).
I stumbled on to this a few months ago but I may be a little slow.

Or on the iPhone hit and hold the zero, (0). It will allow you to slide your finger to the left to the degree sign (°). Stu

That is interesting, bill, thanks!

On my tablet which I am using now I can do it by hitting the numbers button and then hitting the signs button like this: °. So I can type about the widow maker and use the right name: RH 5°

I think that is right.....

Tomorrow it will be 85° here and yesterday's low temp was 56°. Going from sweatshirt weather to sweat like a pig weather in 48 hours.

I knew about the special characters for the QWERTY keyboards, it's the iPhone characters that surprised me. I knew about some of them, didn't think to check the numbers.

In Win10 there is "CHARMAP" (also in Win7, XP, Vista, et al.) Character Map. It has ALL the possible characters including Greek, Latin, etc. Also includes the characters in different fonts.

If you're running Windows, go to Accessories, then click on System Tools, then click on Character Map.
