First time poster here
I apologize if there is already a thread on this but I couldn't find one.
I am swapping out my 3 speed automatic transmission for a 5speed manual transmission
I am told that I need a new brain box
So I need a good vin from a 1989 f250 351 Windsor with a 5 speed manual
Or if you have the ecm number that would be amazing as well

I don't think you need a new computer if you have a 3 speed auto 4 speed someone will have to tell you

 

So if I am swapping out a 3 speed automatic to a 5 speed manual I don't need a new computer?

 

The C6 3sp auto is not computer controlled in any way which means the current PCM doesn't know what trans the truck has so changing it won't have any effect on it.
