On the subject of Two-Tones.....
I didn't want to hi-jack Sschultz13's thread about two-tones......
I've been seriously considering a factory Two-Tone paint scheme but with a "twist".
Primary color being a 1955-56 Ford Crown Vic Aqua/Teal primary color (rest assured, I will use the proper code) with a light to medium gray secondary/inset color. Here's the "twist"...
A life long friend of mine has done airbrushing of all types for 30+ years and suggested that he airbrush (replicating) the side trim (which I currently do not have), separating the colors. I think that exterior color combo would complement my interior color change from blue, to black with medium gray accents with faux stainless replacing the woodgrain.
No drilling, no clips, no future rust but...the "3-D look" of the trim.
Along those lines, I also thought of having the F O R D stamping in the bed gate that i found at the boneyard, painted with a 2 part chrome spray with the letters somewhat outlined with airbrushing for a shadowing effect.
Round it out with matching gray or teal painted steel wheels with the correct dog dish caps and stainless trim rings (or no trim rings).
I have a set of Unity 6" A pillar spotlights, as well as stainless vent window deflectors and stainless door window vent shades just itching to be installed. I've already taken the wiper arms down to bare metal and "grained" them to resemble stainless as well as the wiper blade frames to match the windshield reveal trim. Jr.West Coast mirrors will replace the factory mirrors which are in sad shape.
I guess my vision is to replicate the 60's Ford F-Series on my '84.
Something different, but still..... .
I realize that the "purist community" will probably throw a fit but, if my truck were a 9 or 10 point candidate for restoration, I wouldn't go this route.
It's not a 9 or 10 point, it's a solid 6 point rust free Southern U.S. "what would you do with it..... truck".
All in, I'm looking at around $1,000 paint and labor. (keep in mind that the painter and I grew up together and have been life long friends since about 7 yrs. old).
What does the FTE family think ?

I think you should do whatever makes you feel good, it's your truck. Have to say that I've done various '90s-gen mods to the various Taurus projects I have so I totally understand...

So, do I have to do everything!? You can't type Dad's Valve Covers?
Seriously though, what I did/am doing is nothing compared to what is being discussed. But, I'm really intrigued by the painted 3D trim idea. That would be really, REALLY COOL!
