After I got the parts from DieselSite, Bob mentioned that the D66 wheel, being driven by the stock ex turbine, wasn't optimal.

It's not laggy, I just don't think I'm getting the boost in should. So, somebody send me a 38R to test.

Nice read guys. Kind of things that use to be on here all the time. Let us know what you buy and how it works for you. Either will work fine with the right tuning. We had a guy on here name Robin,RIP, that ran 200/80 injectors and had it dyno'd at RRE one year by DP. I believe he said it ran 486rwhp. He said he wished he'd gone 200/100 non hybrid. I believe he wanbted that 500hp mark. But he didn"t say that. It's all in what you want.

My most popular injector is the 160/30... I call it the "working mans injector".

Will work with stock fuel, stock turbo, stock HPOP... Just a fun enjoyable truck to drive, that is not a maintenance pig.

Same injector is in my wifes Excursion... Drive the crap out of that rig.

Do you guys think ACs would decrease MPG?

If you look at Tugly's signature, you will see that his 160/100's are giving him 16/19 mpg.

If you look at it another way it takes the same amount of fuel to go the same speed in the same gear in the same environment if everything else is equal: single shot to single shot. The choice of the injector nozzle just determines how fast that given amount of fuel can get in there. As long as you stay conservative on volume and the nozzle size, 0, 30, or possibly 80% at the most, you should not affect atomization too terribly much.

This is just a very long way of stating that your driving habits are going to determine MPG's the most. Again, your rear tires will tell the tale also.

160/0 & 160/30 singles are "capable" of getting better mileage than the stock splits. 160/80's and above simply become addictive for most of us after pushing the throttle for the first time.

Some one else's opinion may differ. Get as many as you can.

The mileage with my 160/30's mirror Tugly. I have about 80k trouble-free miles on them.

I'm experiencing ~1.5mpg improvement with 175/80, does require keeping the foot out of it. Towing is up about that much too and I use a lot less throttle than with stock injectors.

Well, as my luck would be, im a bit disappointed in my new 160/30 injectors just recently installed 3 wks ago. Before, with my factory injectors with 350k on the clock I was getting 16.5-17 mpg. At one time I was getting a consistent 18.5-19 and sometimes 20, with my new single shots i was hoping to get back into that range of mileage. However i have seen the opposite, in the 3 wks I have had the truck back I am on my 5th tank of fuel, and i am seeing about 1-1.5 mpg less than what i was getting, 15-15.5..... now two of those tanks were pulling my gooseneck loaded with tractor and other stuff weighing around 10k+, truck pulls like freight train now. I was towing up our hills in north La (baby hills for most of you guys) pushing 30psi up the hills and egts never got above 1100*. Doing so I got about 10mpg towing, which is about the same as I got before. But my disapointment is with everyday driving. Typically I drive 100+ miles a day all on flat ground with lots of highway and cruise control, and for 3 tanks now Ive seen lower mileage when I was expecting more. Now I know some guys that would love to get 15mpg with their trucks, but I was getting in the 18 range and was hoping to get back there but so far havent seen it..... just one mans experience so far in 3 wks of singles....

I assume no other changes at injector swap? Just injectors and tunes?

If so... there might be a hole in the tuning. Let your guy know the economy "tanked", and see what he says.

Remans or new?

I never get below 16 with the 160/100s - and that's winter driving on my daily 100-mile trek.

No they should not. Many actually experience a slight jump. I put 160/80's in my Excursion 2 years ago and I have been very happy with them. For an 8,000+ lb Excursion I would go with the 160/30's or 80's. With the 30's a stock or modified stock turbo will be good, but with the 80's you'll want more air.

New cups, new glow plugs, new injectors, new tunes, new S&B intake..... all NEW.

I got the 160/30s from Full Force as well as the Hydra chip loaded with Gearhead tunes. It was the "canned tunes" ( Heavy Tow, High Idle, Stealth (yea right), Economy, Hot Street, Race, and No Start) so to speak as I did not contact Matt at Gearhead and tell him all the goodies on the truck, but I did tell Full Force. Im assuming that there are some "canned tunes" , maybe canned is a bad description, probably more so of the "generic" tunes that are issued standard with single shots, and not "custom" to my truck I guess. Guess I need to contact Gearhead and see if they can tweak some things. Does anyone know if they offer live tuning? Im not all that far from them.

The previous tanks were with the Economy Tune. This tank Ive been on the Hot Street tune and it seems to be somewhat better than before, but still think it will just get me back to where I was (16-16.5) but will see when I have to fill up again.

Did you dump the 15 HPOP? From someone that had one in his e99 I can tell you it makes a diffeerence. I gained almost 2 mpg. But the response on the road passing was way improved. I mean way improved. Now I have DP tuning, not live tuning and the AB injectors, but this dose make a difference. There is a well known tuner on here that could make yours work I'm sure, but he's not tuning for every buddy. Also if your that close to Matt, give him a call. Make an appointment to see him, and I bet he can tweak your tunes to work much better. Did you give him your PCM number? Anyway I had to pop in. Hope it all works out for you. Just the difference in power and keeping the same mpg makes most people smile.
