Wondering what year and model...

Hello all,

Brand new and this is my first post here. I was hoping someone could give me some insight on this truck. I love the overall look and will be taking the 4 hour trip to take another look. Not sure what year or engine/drivetrain details are but for $1500-$2000 I am hopeful it's savable. Praying the engine is in decent shape and it proves worthwhile to lug it home. Would love to get the stats on this model and read all up on it soon.

Reese, welcome to the site. What you're looking at there appears to be a '42-'47 1.5 ton or larger truck. That's a very interesting bed it has on it. My number one concern would be rust. Check the 4 lower cab corners, they usually rust, but patch panels are available. Check around the windshield, the gaskets dry out and crack, water seeps in, the metal around the windshield rusts, no patches for that area. Of course floors should be checked, patches are available. The front sheet metal looks decent, so you're coming up ahead there.
What would be your plan, if you have one yet, of what you'll do with the truck. The big trucks have a pretty good following here, lots of the guys here have them.
Good luck and keep us up to date.

The body looks pretty straight with only surface rust. It looks like a welders truck with an interesting pattern on the steel plate metal, checkerboard? I am wondering why the drivers door is hanging down; I wish that I was going to look it over too! It is pretty heavy so you will need some heavy duty equipment to haul it for 4 hours.

interesting Jailbar. Does it have a title? Looks like a tonner with the kind of wheels on the rear end. How bad is the rust?

That seems like a lot of money, not sure where you live. Around here you could get a low miles original fire truck that runs for that kind of money.
