A moment of silence

For these vintage cars /trucks that appear to be totally destroyed. The only positive side to this is at least they can now go to China and do something besides rusting away. I tried to buy a f2 3 truck in very nice shape but he wouldnt sell. He did sell me a few parts here and there. And some 19.5 wheels so at least i saved something...

So sad.....

The 8foot bed was very nice. Lower valence below tailgate and tail gate was straight. Original bumper. Now just a melted mess.
We did rescue a good merc crank out of this just a few weeks ago.
48. A chevy and a 56 f350 wrecker truck in background.

F3 tailgate...

Parts truck.

Nice truck.

And the link to news story. There are some incredible pictures shown here of the raging fire..

Large fire rips through Salt Lake's west side | KSL.com

The guy had at least a dozen 48 52 f1 f2 f3 trucks. These pictures are at the junk end of his yard. He had some nice f1 s on the north end. Sadly all gone now.

Ah man, why show that to us. That's like somebody digging up your dead relatives and showing you pictures. Very sad.

Im sorry! I know.

After watching the videos again and going through the pictures maybe the south end was spared??
Ill have to go visit next week and see for myself.

Maybe he will be motivated to sell something now?
Looks like he lost his main shop. He had a mustang nearly done and a kit cobra ready for paint. I feel bad he lost so much.

Man my just stomach just dropped, that's horrible. It's a blessing that nobody was seriously injured though, that was quite an inferno. Sure a shame that so much American history was lost, not to mention the owners personal loss. It leaves me with a kind of an empty feeling. Good luck buying some of what is left, the place will probably have insurance and fire investigators around for awhile.

There was three junkyard north of here in the Peoria area that were chock full of all sorts of old stuff of all makes and models and the good ol' freaking EPA made 'em shut down and crush it all . same for one here that was actually an older guys private stash on cook street ( if you read this. Stu i am sure you know what i am talking about , and you to tom ) . he passed and the city made whomever inherited it crush it all and he had some good stuff in there !!!!!

Yeah, sorry that the SLC yard is mostly gone. Hope some was spared. There are no local yards anymore that I know of Kevin. The Cook Street "beautification" was a shame too. Stu

Its happening all over the country, it could be a junk yards, air port, or low income housing, urban sprawl creeps in then all these new people want all the old stuff gone, and in there place a Starbucks, Walmart, Mc Donalds, subway etc etc, one town looks exactly like the next. Im sorry but hearing that they are forcing these places out of business is irritating to me. These types of business serve a voluble funftion and were originally placed on the outskirts of towns. The same thing is happening here, shame on us.

Sorry for getting off subject from boneyards to tracks/boneyard but the story just resonates and reminds me of so many places that for some reason or another get shut down or lost to time .......

The owner is going to experience govermnment and insurance hell for the who know how long. I can only imagine the types of fines he's going to have to pay. I'd bet it's going to shut him down. Just another reason people will use to get rid of more of these type of places. Too bad.

if anything can be called a rogue agency in this country it's the EPA as it seems they do anything without having to answer to anybody. Fortunately I'm in an area I don't have to buy from Wallyworld, eat at McDonalds or drink that rot gut that Starcrap sells. Lots of mom and pops still around here and we don't have countywide zoning either. Its called live and let live.
