94 PSD No Start

Hey guys. I am a bit of a rookie with this stuff so bear with me. 94' F-350 7.3 DI has a no start condition. Died on me while going down highway. MIL lamp came on, followed by WIF light, followed by a stall while I was trying to find an approach.

Fuel bowl had a bunch of water in it. I drained it, cleaned it, and replaced the filter. Tested fuel pressure - regulator has adequate pressure. Tried to crank it over quite a bit, but it wouldn't start. Not even a hint of smoke while cranking, so it seems like the injectors aren't opening. Tach does move while cranking.

Hooked up my scan tool (OBDII, PCM has been reflashed), and got two codes - P1272 & 1274 - Cylinder 2 & 4 high to low fault (This shouldn't prevent all of the injectors from working, or would it?) . Buzz test seems normal, one long buzz followed by 8 short buzzes that sound identical.

I then tested ICP (kPa), ICPR (%) while cranking. 14%/54% ICPR before and during cranking, but 0 ICP (kPa). A friend told me to try with the ICP sensor unplugged, and the scan tool gives me 17000 kPa while cranking, but no start. I assume that this number is inaccurate.

The oil only has about 1000km on it, but I was pulling my trailer and it was running on the hot side for most of those 1000km. Even if the oil is broken down, should I still be getting some ICP, or could this be the issue?

Thoughts? Thanks in advance

You'll likely have more success here 1994.5 - 1997 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel.

Naw, No bad ...

It's normally frowned upon to cross post, however I doubt anybody's going to complain in this case ...

Sometimes moderators do move them, I would state here that you are going to repost there, then repost there.

You're not gonna get kicked out or anything, for the most part there is a bunch of good folk here on FTE!

BTW Welcome to FTE!

EDIT
Good deal ... Enjoy!

-Enjoy

Unplugging the icp defaults the pcm pressure, and if it fires, indicates a bad icp sensor.

Are you sure it was water in your fuel bowl?

The tach not moving would suggest a bad cps, but some people swear up and down that their tachs don't move while cranking before fire...every one I've seen at least bounces. That, however, would not explain your 0 icp.

IPRegulator duty cycle doesn't indicate that it's functioning, just that the solenoid is trying to make it work. I'd think a wide open regulator would still be able to give it a low pressure reading or a blip on the radar. Removing and inspecting the ipr is relatively easy and free, not a bad thing on an engine such as a ps.

What other data did you gather with your scanner?
