I would look it over well, and if the truck was in very good shape, I would buy it. Of course I would offer them less first. All they can say is yes, no, or counter offer. I've had a dually as a daily driver, ounce you get use to it, you don't even think about it. The fenders don't stick out any further than the mirrors, in fact, less. It will also make interstate travel pulling a camper a lot more solid. Be prepared to loose a little mpg and pay a little more for tires. This is the best gas motor/transmission combo ford has put in a truck to date. If that truck had been on the lot when I bought my truck, I would have looked at it mighty hard.

You can get them with 4.30's it's an option just like single rear wheel truck but that one is only 3.73 according to ford.

I have decided against this thanks to numerous discussions with various people, including you helpful folks. I'm looking at a diesel dually now.

For a 2010-2012 diesel, what is a good or bad amount of miles?

How about this? http://www.jdmotors.com/2006-Ford-F3...6/Details.aspx

I'm also looking at a few Dodge's and Chevys (don't shoot! )

You may want to check out the 6.0 forum for questions on this truck.

With a high mileage truck like that you have wear parts to consider in addition to any potential engine/transmission issues. Front end/steering parts, brakes, shocks, rear end, etc.
I wish I could remember the name, but there is a used truck dealer with several diesels right at the intersection of 104 & 104B at New Haven near Oswego. Passed by there a few times on the motorcycle this summer.

your in ny so an f-350 has to get registed as a commercial truck...and check with your insurance company to make sure they will insure it...and if the bank will finance it.

read the DMV regs to determine how you can qualify for passenger plates

also...read the emmissions inspection requirements for NY depending on the weight class of the vehicle.

tolls are more for duallys....and states like PA...actually scan the weight of the truck at the tool booth.

the one you introduced is an XL....XL's have very poor used market intertest...and you would be hard pressed to find a dealer that would even take it in on trade.

Ha ha, that could be true in your area, but it's far from accurate in my area. And xl means cheaper, and cheaper sells trucks in my area. I've had a few xl trucks, including currently. I've never had a dealer hesitate about giving me a fair book value trade in offer. Of course my vehicles are always in very good shape and clean. Lots of hard working blue collar folks here, construction, farming, mowing, and industrial, these folks, like myself, aren't making tons of money, but need or want a newer reliable heavy duty truck. I'm sure their probably in your area too. The xl superduty feels those needs perfectly.

That is factory, it's the chrome appearance package, on the '16 model xl trucks. My dad ordered it on his gem green regular cab 4.30 truck as well. It's a sharp truck.

I'm back and forth on whether or not I should buy the chrome center section that's less than 200. My only regrets on this truck was not getting the power equipment group, not for power windows and locks, but for keyless entry, and marker lights on the mirrors. Adding lights to the mirrors is an issue because the mirrors aren't even molded to except the factory lights like I thought they would be, and I'm adding aftermarket keyless entry right now. My other regret is not ordering a truck with 4.30 gears. That may get addressed one day as well. Otherwise I love everything about it, my vinyl seats and floor, my simple radio and a/c controls, my seating for 6, the lighter weight(which = higher payload), etc... The decked out lariets, and platinums are not wanted by everyone. I've still got cruise, sync, and factory trailer brake control, which is really the only options I wanted at purchase.

I have had 2 recent XL's and just ordered one. I have not seen the black grill w/chrome surround before. I have seen guys do painted to match surrounds that looked good too. Your truck looks great and its different. I'm not sure what options I will have on the 2017 grill to make any modifications. I know it will be all black.

I love my XL true I'll get less on trade in but I bought it for less. As in a whole hell of a lot less. There seems to be no rhyme or reason about what is or isn't factory equipment on an XL. Mine has keyless entry, power locks and windows but no backup camera, no Sirius, no window tint.

Being from East Tennessee, and smokey being the UT vols mascot, and a view of the great smokey mountains from my back porch, there's plenty of stuffed named smokey around here already, so no, lol. Thanks for the compliments guys. Truck was $34,5?? Before taxes, and goes to show, you don't have to spend 50k+ to get a good looking truck. Some 285 tires would help it a lot I think.
