Looks like I have a Dearborn 400 block...
I was looking to see if I could tell whether my 351M/400 block was from the Michigan (MCC) or Cleveland Foundry (CF). I looked on the top/back of the block by the oil pressure switch. I was expecting to see something like this:
This is a picture of a MCC block, May 27th 1976 (6E27)...NOT MINE
but instead found mine to look like this:
I have an 8 where I was expecting to see the MCC or CF symbol... The DIF means it was created at the Dearborn Iron Factory (not Michigan or Cleveland Foundrys) The date spot (if still the date spot) looks like January 6th 1972 (which would make sense since the blocks were only made at DIF in 1971/1972). Have no idea what the E2 or 8 means.
Anybody have a clue what those mean? Were my guesses correct?
