I have an m5od all five gears work except reverse. When I put it in reverse an let off the clutch it pops out of gear and grinds. Suggestions??

 

Does it work in reverse if you hold the shifter? If so I'd say you should be looking at replacing the reverse syncro at the very minimum but since you are in there you might as well replace them all.

 

If reverse goes in just fine and holding it can prevent it from popping out you need to replace reverse gear, syncro hub, syncro slider and the blocker ring (most times called the "syncro"). You'll also want to check the shift forks while your in there as they wear out easily too.

Ford has released a tsb for reverse gear "eating" itself and that's more then likely what has happened.

 

It could possibly be a worn shift fork that is not fully engaging reverse?
