2017 GVWRs are unchanged - 11,500 SRW, 14,000 DRW (according to Ford chat tonight)

Please wait. An operator will be with you shortly.
Shelby says:
Hello. This is Shelby. How can I help you with your build today?
Bill says:
I see 2017 super duty window stickers from those who have ordered... The F350 SRW Lariat shows a 11,500# GVWR on the sticker. Is this number correct?
Bill says:
You can see the sticker at:
http://www.windowsticker.forddirect....8W3BT2HEB13991
Shelby says:
We appreciate your interest in the Ford Family! GVWR is based on bodystyle, wheelbase, drivetrain, engine, and payload.
Shelby says:
Please allow me to review the links you sent.
Bill says:
thanks
Shelby says:
I need to do some in-depth research into your question and it may take me up to five minutes to respond. Thank you for your continued patience.
Bill says:
No problem. With the 2016 RAM SRW having a GVWR of 12,300, I figure the F350 SRW must be higher.
Shelby says:
I appreciate your patience while I continue to look into this.
Shelby says:
Thanks for waiting. After reviewing all my resources, the second link you sent includes the 11,500 GVWR Package. This is the max amount based on this vehicle selection.
Bill says:
When I look at the order guide, the only options to derate the F350 SRW is the same as 2016 - 10,000 and 11,400. It appears that the 2017 SRW Lariat 6.7 has the same GVWR as 2016 - correct?
Bill says:
(11,500 is the default, also the max, for the 2016)
Shelby says:
I'm confirming now.
Shelby says:
I appreciate your patience while I continue to look into this.
Bill says:
no problem
Shelby says:
The max for the 2016 is 11,500 Ib. with the 137", 142", 158", and 156" WB. The 2017 offers 142", 148", 164", 160", and 176" WB. The difference between the model years is the wheelbase selection.
Bill says:
I understand the wheelbase differences. I need to know if the GVWR increased or is it still 11,500 for the SRW to select which truck to get.
Bill says:
In particular, I need to know for the 160" wheelbase
Bill says:
and 176"
Shelby says:
The max for the F-350 4x4 SRW is 11,500 Ib. for both model years.
Bill says:
OK. Do you happen to know the value for the DRW (F350 and F450)?
Shelby says:
Just to clarify, are you referring to the MSRP?
Bill says:
GVWR
Shelby says:
Thanks for clarifying. I'm checking into this now.
Shelby says:
I appreciate your patience while I continue to look into this.
Shelby says:
Thanks for waiting. The max GVWR for the F-350 and F-450 DRW is 14,000 Ib.
Bill says:
Just to be sure, the 2017 super duty is the same as the 2016 then? The 2016 SRW was 11,500 and DRW was 14,000 as well.
Shelby says:
Yes, the GVWR is the same for both model years.
Bill says:
OK. Do you happen to have the torque and HP for the 6.2 and 6.7?
Shelby says:
I understand your interest for this type of details. The horsepower and torque specs are estimated to be confirmed in the coming weeks. I recommend keeping an eye on our website or speaking with your dealer.
Bill says:
Do you have the estimates?
Shelby says:
Here is a direct link to sign-up for email notifications.

Bill says:
Do you have the hp & torque estimates?
Shelby says:
The horsepower and torque have not been confirmed at this time.

Bill says:
thx
Shelby says:
I recommend signing-up for updates. You will be notified by email once this information becomes available.
Shelby says:
It's my pleasure, Bill. It won't be too much longer.
Shelby says:
What other questions do you have?
Bill says:
Do you have any idea why they left the GVWR 800# below the Ram with all of those improvements to the frame, brakes and suspension?
Shelby says:
Just to clarify, is this listed on our website?
Bill says:
The Ram's 3500 SRW GVWR is 12,300, you told me that the 2017 SRW is still 11,500 like the 2016.
Shelby says:
That is confirmed amount for the upcoming MY. Which page are you referring to that does not have the 800 number, improvements, brakes, and suspension?
Bill says:
the 800 is simply the Ram 12,300 minus the Ford 11,500. 12,300 - 11,500 = 800
Shelby says:
Thanks for clarifying that information. We appreciate your feedback about this. I will certainly pass it along to our web design team to have this shown on our website.
Bill says:
Showing that the new Ford has 800# less capacity than last year's Ram?
Shelby says:
Can you please send me the link you are referring to?
Bill says:
The 11,500 is from you. The Ram's details are at https://www.ramtrucks.com/assets/tow...ing_charts.pdf
Bill says:
By the way, I've exclusively used Ford trucks since 1993 and want to continue to do so!
Shelby says:
Thank you for that information. I just wanted to confirm it was not a website error on our end. Decisions on our vehicles are based on market research, feedback, and engineer advances.
Shelby says:
We truly appreciate your loyalty to the Ford Family.
Bill says:
Are the GVWRs you gave me online somewhere?
Shelby says:
I can assure you that we do consider our customers our greatest asset and we would hate to lose you as a loyal part of the Ford Family. We are always striving to improve customer satisfaction. I do encourage signing-up for email updates as more information and specs are confirmed.
Bill says:
Thanks. Is it OK with you if I post this information on the ford-trucks.com forum? Many are interested.
Shelby says:
The GVWR specs are not available on our website. More updates and specs are expected to happen in the coming weeks.
Shelby says:
I encourage checking back with us as more details and specs can be confirmed and updated anytime until vehicle release. Models are estimated to start arriving next month.
Shelby says:
Do you have a dealer in mind you plan to work with?
Bill says:
[Deleted]
Shelby says:
I am happy to hear that.
Bill says:
OK for me to post this chat session to the ford-trucks.com forum?
Shelby says:
Once this chat has completed, you will have the opportunity to have a copy sent directly to your email. You can use this copy as you please.
Bill says:
I really appreciate your help!

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what happened to the 2015 F150. It got lighter with a stronger frame but no payload gain. I wonder if GCWR goes up?

Why would Shelby have this info without it being posted?

It was from the chat session link on Ford's 2017 order site. I'd think the people on the other end would have correct information. With the precision on the turning circle, it seemed legit. (See my other thread.)

I would give some leeway on the mid-conversation confusion. I suspect they are working several chat sessions at one time.

Anyone else talk to the chat and feel a bit of a robotic response?
I used it today to confirm my order specs and it didn't quite feel like a true human on the other side.
Makes me wonder if this is just some current information being pushed along to keep the masses at bay.
Just my .02

Reading those, it does read more like an automated chatbot. They've gotten pretty good, but still aren't quite human.

I believe there are still humans at the other end but I am also sure they have single keystoke answers to common questions and requests.

And the facts being that 14k is a class limit between 3 and 4, that one is probably a given. Once in class 4, all kinds of new emissions regs and other requirements come into play.

If GVW doesn't go up, I'm not sure why GCWR matters. The order guide already shows the F250 having 25,700 GCWR - over 2000 lb increase. If you have a realistic pin weight of 20%, you couldn't ever hit that GCWR without significantly exceeding your GVWR.

See you're other thread. 20% is not always the case and mine is no where near it. As to your chat, while it could be accurate, it sounds more like India... LOL.
