The KOER Self-Test is looking for the idle to drop when it attempts to opened the EGR Valve, if the idle does not drop, this is one reason the ECA will throw a Code 34.

That one looks familiar, I think I sent it to him from my 1986 Engine/Emissions Diagnosis (Volume H of the 1986 Car/Truck Shop Manual)

The first one is out of an old Ford training program. I’m adding some others. I have about 7 different source interpretations of the codes, including the Haynes & Chilton F-150 man, also a FFI & EEC book. I find the older stuff is more descriptive. So, I review all my resources, and the internet, and depending on the situation, apply the ones that make sense to me.

Pin#49 - not sure of the wire to check but do have a wire with ground to firewall and checked that. Got 1. reading. Checked surrounding grounds with same results.
Pin #40 - Checked battery ground again with same results (1). This is the one I checked before and had positive results so I am thinking the ground I'm creating with the alligator clip isn't good.
Pin #20 - Not sure where to connect this. Tried it both on the spout and on the TFI connector. Got a 1.
For documentation purpose; Steve's measurements; ground pins,
PIN 49 = 1 ohm, PIN 40 = 0 ohm, PIN 20 = 0 ohm

One of the prompts for a code 34 is vacuum leak. That is something we definitely have. Will fix that when the new vacuum manifold arrives.

These differ a little:

EVP: see il code 84 is present; PFE: low exhaust backpressure, blocked sensor tube, bad sensor
R EGRC / EGRV: EGR valve opening not detected; EVR: EVP or PFE signal too high
M PFE: checked for blocked sensor tube; EVP: check EVP resistance

Just for the record - It rained last night, heavy. This morning I woke to 97% humidity and it's going to be another, very hot, very humid day.

She started right up!

This is twice we've had significant rain and she started. We'll do this a few more times to see if my rainy day issues are gone. I suspect they are.

Thanks to all!

Steve

You asked me which of my vacuum reservoirs are in use. I pulled the red tube off my strange looking reservoir and there is vacuum there, and there's vacuum on the death star, so they are both in use.

Forgive me for not reading everything in the previous posts, but you determined that you have vacuum coming in to your reservoir on that red tube, right? If you put a gauge on that line what's the vacuum pulled?

I'll have to get back to you on that. Not able to work on it today, but next time I can, I'll pull the vacuum on it and let you know.

FYI, Steve reported -20 in.Hg when I had him check the vacuum on the red line. See post #554.

He also added a new Check-Valve to the Red Hose, then tested the vacuum where the Black Hose side connects to the Reservoir (Solinoid Vacuum Manifold side) and reported -18 in.Hg. This also proved that he had his Check-Valve in the right direction.

Yes, there can be multiple reasons for the ECA to report the same code. This is what troubleshooting is all about, eliminating possible causes.
