Where is it blowing out? At the head flange? If so Remflex.

Remflex is my vote too. If it can seal my 390 manifold they've got to be good!

Replacing manifold gaskets won't do any good unless the exhaust leak is actually found.

In terms of "bubbles and backfires", is that out the carb or popping out the exhaust? If backfiring up thru the carb, then fuel is igniting when an intake valve is open so it could be a timing/vacuum issue.

If out the tail pipes, check your timing or dial it back to the factory recommended setting. Doesn't cost anything except a few minutes of your time.

No.

Use your hand to feel for pulses of escaping air... look for carbon tracks.

Black carbon soot tracks will be evident around any leak.

Use a long tube of vacuum or fuel hose. Put one end in your ear and the other use as a probe running it along the manifold where it meets the head. It is very distinct when you find it, you will hear it loud and clear.
