Truck won't start

It's a 56 truck with a 1977 LTD motor. Removed the fuel tank and cleaned it out. Replaced all of the fuel lines. Replaced the fuel pump and the inline fuel filter. Still gas is not getting to the filter or the carb...if I put gas in the carb it starts right up and runs for a few seconds....?????? Any suggestions.... ????????

Is the carb set to run too lean?

Is there fuel to the pump? Do you have a vac. pump to hook to the fuel line before the pump? Maybe pull some fuel through, prime the line so to speak. How about the pick up in the tank?

Unhook the line that feeds into the carburetor and crank it just for a few seconds and see if fuel come out. If it does then there's something plugged up in your bowl. Have you rebuilt the carburetor? It could be getting into the carb just not past the bowl. If fuel doesn't come out the line it is probably a pump issue.

I'll wager that whatever was blocking the suction in the tank that you blew out will eventually find it's way back to the suction tube. I'd look into this at your earliest convenience.
