Houstonian with Emmisions Trouble
Hi all, I'll try and keep this short,
I've got a 1982 e350 mini-motorhome with a carbed 460 in it.
Last year I passed emmisions with flying colors 86 ppm of hc(hydrocarbons). This year I ran up an amazing 6631ppm, well I had forgotten to hook my smog pump back up after changing the water pump out. Hooked it back up, got some good gas, drove about 30 minutes and got tested. Now I am testing 1314 hc ppm, big improvement but still not under the 500 ppm that I need for this vehicle.
In the last 6 months I have put on a new egr valve, plugs, cap and rotor. Vehicle is non-cat converter from the factory.
I only drive this vehicle about 2000 miles a year, just up to football games. I'm thinking about getting it tested in another county that doesn't have emmisions testing. When I was going to school a few years ago I only had to sign a paper saying I lived there and they would do the inspection. Do you think the state will catch on to this?
I can also register it at my folks house that is not an emmisions county, but I just paid my 99$ registration about 2 weeks ago and not sure if I will have to pay this again when I re-register it.
I'm not trying to be an *** to the environment. I just think it's running about as good as it ever will. Like I said I only drive it 2000 miles a year.
Thanks for reading this long post.
Send any advice or comments my way

Houstonian with Emmisions Trouble
Dave - A few years back I took my mothers old Fairmont in and it flunked. I went to an auto parts store and bought a small bottle of gas treatment (sorry i don't recall the name of it). I let the tank run low, put the stuff in and it passed. The test is tougher now, but you might check on the stuff. Good luck.

Ok this might sound stupid but just changing ur oil can help you, make sure the air filter and all that are clean, and I believe the stuff the guy was talking about that is in the bottle is called GS2 you usually will see it on display on the counter of any auto parts store, expecially O" Reilly's
