Clips for Cowl Vent

I've been having trouble getting the cowl vent to close evenly on my '50 F-1. At first I thought it was the new gasket but I also noticed that it was missing one of the small clips that holds the lift mechanism together at each end of the cross bar.

I emailed Chuck but he didn't have any to spare so I had to improvise. I noticed that the clasps on a small bigger clip are about the same size.

I took one off, and bent it to approximately the same shape and put it on the the vent. It looks like it might work.

Which proves again, you don't need NOS parts to make an effective repair in many cases.

An E type circlip would work there.

I thought about using a pin like that but wasn't sure it would work. Glad to hear that it does. It's good to have another option if mine doesn't stay in place.

I tried using one of those clips but it seemed to work itself out when I raised and lowered the mechanism. I think the sides need to be straight to stay in place.
