Just a quick question. I have a 2012 ecoboost. I got SCT x3 programmer, I ran the 87 level for a while and thought it could do better. So I put the tuner on the 91 level and it ran a lot better. This was all on 87 gas. Is there any issue with running 87 gas with the next step up octane rating since it runs so much better? Also on the SCT's does disabling the speed limiter do anything else except that?
I have a SCT programmer for my truck and have an 87 & 93 octane tune. I was told by SCT not to run the high octane tune with regular fuel. I'm not exactly sure why but I would recommend you call and ask them.
Thanks, I've read up and down online not to run the 93 tune and 87 because the timing would either retard the timing and defeat the purpose, or detonate. But what about the mid level 91 and 87 octane gas.
5star tune worked wonders. Eliminated the throttle lag at tip in, Trans doesn't hang around in 6 gear when not needed. When faced with a incline the Trans down shifts as expected it would in stead of staying in a high gear and low rpms and ******* up a incline unless the throttle is pushed enough to force it to downshift. I haven't seen any decrease in mpg on the avg gauge. So overall I'm great satisfied with their service and tune. Makes my 3.5 eco feel more like my previous 5.4.
