Coyote 5.0 and the 4R70W?

Are you worried about its around town manners or reliability of the transmission behind that engine? I wouldn't be worried about either honestly. The 4r70w is a stout trans. Even better if you spend some coin to upgrade them when rebuilding. I can't however imagine your reasoning for wanting to spend so much time trying to make this swap possible.

Mainly the around town and freeway manners. I know the transmission can handle the stock power of the coyote. I had just read on another forum that the drivability of the 5.0 and the 4R70W wouldn't mesh well. The reply from the other post was that the transmission was built for peak power being made in 3500 rpm range.
As far as price, I've been watching for some crashed Mustangs and when the opertunity presents itself, I'll buy an engine and get a Performance Automatic transmission controller and a flex plate. Then get a Ford Racing engine controller.

You can readily tweak the 4r70w to do what you want. Shift kit for example. Torque converter upgrade. TCI has nice stuff. When I rebuilt mine I went with their kit. Comes with the complete shift kit too. Mine is set fire the middle, and it'll grab 2nd pretty hard. I'm not sure how a transmission is exactly built for peak power at 3500 when they use them in cars that turn double that at the track.
