New Oil Cooler Leak!!

Hello, Once again my friend's 1997 F-250 7.3 has an issue. They put a new Oil cooler on the engine about 9 months ago and now it's leaking oil pretty badly at the back end where the end plate and cooler tube go together. From what I have read here, it's an O-ring that is used to seal this part. Can the O-ring just go bad like that so quickly? Can we just remove the oil cooler and replace the O-rings?

Thanks in advance for the help..

If the o rings weren't lubed good, it is possible that the o ring rolled and was nicked when the cooler was assembled, and the o ring let go. Remove the cooler and replace all o rings and gaskets. The coolant will have to be drained to do the job.
