Clutch\brake pedal

I did the first drive with my truck today. About 20 miles. Only problem i see is that when i press the clutch pedal the brake pedal slightly applys. The brake pedals moves down about an inch. Im thinking that maybe the pedal assembly needs a cleaning and lube but i done know yet. Just wanted to ask what this might be. Thanks!

Hopefully it isn't a sign that your pedal support is cracked.

THAT'S always exciting..... when the wheel drops in your lap while driving.

Check the firewall seam where it meets the cowl.
It might be as simple as welding that back together.

Could the problem be the infamous firewall crack/flex? Sounds bad, but very common and easily fixed with a special bracket. Would that let the entire pedal assembly move relative to the brake master cylinder?

I'd suggest having a helper cycle the clutch pedal while you watch the engine side of the firewall.

I suppose it could be the firewall's torn.

I didn't notice that when mine was.

But i had both pedals moving for a day or two before my bracket snapped.

Please, when asking questions, list ALL the pertinent info.

According to your "About Me" profile, you have a 1985 F250 that has a hydraulic clutch. But, 1980/82's did not have it, neither did 1983's unless they had 6.9L diesel or 460.

Beginning in 1984, all F150/350 & Bronco's have a hydraulic clutch.

3 pics of clutch/brake pedals.

UPDATE:
I pulled out the entire pedal assembly. No damage. I decided pull it apart and clean it. That was the fix! There was some surface rust on the long bolt and some larger built up spots aswell. All i did was sand the rust off and lubed all the contact points. Works perfect now.

How does cleaning the pedal assembly keep it from moving?

Was it loose to begin with?
Does it just mean that you now use much less effort to depress the clutch?

the pedals use a common povit and if there was a little rust on it both pedals could move when only one was pushed.

They're concentric but should have Delrin bushings.
I didn't know that a structural plastic engineered for dimensional stability and lack of friction could rust, or stick to rust.

Rust can build between the shaft & bushing or bushing and pedals or both and close up the gap or pressing/expanding the bushings and keep them from moving freely.

Had this happen on my AMC Javelin of the brake booster pivot bracket. Rust was so bad you could not move the pivot. It chewed up the bushings trying to get it apart. Had to make new bushings, that was fun, as no one sells replacements.
