Oil Leaking from Turbo Area - How Serious
So my understanding is that if your turbo is leaking oil, you either need to rebuild it or get a new turbo cause the one you have is shot.
I have some oil leaking, but it's not a ton. One one of my buddies was telling me that it's possible that the amount that is leaking is normal due to the PCV (Pressure Control Valve) system, or something like that. Here are a few shots of the turbo, as well as the boots that are leading up to the turbo.
Does anyone have experience to be able to tell me based on the photos if my turbo is done? Thank You for the help & input!!

I just picked up the truck last week, so I'm not sure how much oil I'll need to add. I imagine that will be revealing of how large the leak really is....

Hi Picachu,
I use about 1 qt. for 500 mi. Noticed oil in the passenger side, I think, intercooler tube (long one going up front) from the x tube on my 2000 7.3. My rig has 159K. Feedback I've gotten in the past has been it's OK and probably from the dog house or something.
Any further comments are appreciated, as there is a bit in there.

1qt for every 500 miles is excessive two possibilitys
The most common injector O rings easy way to check is to see your fuel filter to see if its black, if its brownish /clear your good black means oil is going past thru the Injector O rings.
The other turbo seals, if the exhaust tip looks moist/oilyyou got a bad turbo seal and time for a rebuild.
Other would be leaks but it would be very noticeable puddle under the truck and all over the underside of the truck.

Once the that center O ring (the one between that keeps the hpo and fuel from mixing) gets compromise there's a lot more pressure coming from the oil than there's from fuel, so it pushes oil thru the fuel system thus contaminating the fuel bowl and in the process your burning that oil as well. Can't explain it to good but you get the Idea.
